Christmas beetles (family Scarabaeidae) are a common sight during the hot Australian summer in south-eastern Australia. Christmas beetle numbers have declined in past decades, as their grassy woodland habitats increasingly vanish due to urbanisation.
This linocut image is printed over a two-sided monotype background created using real botanical specimens of Australian leaves and grasses. No two cards are ever the same. Often, the background is composed of two or more overlain prints, each layer representing one pass through the printing press. Backgrounds can vary significantly, so please make use of the drop-down tone and intensity options so I can send you a card with a background you’ll love.
Remember, the images shown here are representative only: your card will feature this linocut artwork and its very own unique background.
